I've only done a dozen or so in and around Los Angeles but I am really glad
I did "To the Batcave!" According to Letterboxer Q, it is "the actual
location where Batman and Robin sped out of the Batcave in their Batmobile". It is a
very short (maybe 5 minutes) walk along a closed road.

If you go, bring a camera. You will be rewarded with what I think is the
best view of the Hollywood sign there is.

I'm still a newbie with only about 30 finds, but one of my favorites
so far has been the "April Fools Day Letterbox" by Heather. It's a
bit off the beaten path, though. For something closer to the freeway
(and more urban), her "Ghosts of Old Capistrano" stamps are very nice
and take you around some neat historical places.
